Dataprobe's Redundancy Switching System (RSS) provides reliable switchover of communications circuits for line protection and equipment redundancy applications. Create fault-tolerant systems with either simultaneous (gang) switching or independent control of each A/B switch.

These physical layer switches allow redundant systems to be automatically, remotely or manually operated, insuring maximum uptime for critical communication circuits.

Relay based switch modules insure communications, even when power is removed or control connections are down. This fail soft technology is optimized for applications including:

A/B switch cards are available in standard communication interfaces. Each A/B switch card includes the proper connectors; no additional interface modules are required. A/B switch cards support all the leads in their respective interfaces, making them ideal for a wide variety of circuit arrangements.

The PS-WRI-4 is an external power supply for RSS-3 systems. It can be used alone, or in conjunction with the PS-RSS-WRI to provide dual redundant power for RS-3 system. It is not intended for use with the RSS-16 chassis.

This control card provides both In-Band and Out-of-Band remote control for almost every application. Individual control of 16 A/B Switch cards plus group and gang control for an unlimited number of switches. The Network/Serial control card has both a 10base-T network port and a RS-232 Serial Port. Control via simple web clicks or telnet menus. Each A/B Card can be named for easy identification.

For system designers, control can also be via direct TCP messaging. The control protocol and programmer support is freely available. A serial port provides direct or modem connection when the network is unavailable.

This control card provides simple web browser control for a single A/B switch or an unlimited number of ganged (simultaneously controlled) A/B switches.

The unique AutoPing feature allows automatic detection of failed systems with programmable automatic failover and switchback based on system availability.

For system designers, control can also be via direct TCP messaging. The control protocol and programmer support is freely available.

The IOC-16-R provides wiring access for external contact control and switch card status monitoring. It can be installed along with a IPC-16-R Network Control access card or with a IOC-16-R gang access card.

Model IOC-3-R provides three contact closure inputs and status relay outputs for RSS-3 and RSS-16 systems for single switch or multi-switch ganged (simultaneous controlled) system.  Up to three A/B switch cards can be independantly controlled.

The IOC-3-R installs in the control slot of the RSS-3 or RSS-16 chassis to provide remote relay control of an unlimited number of ganged switch cards. In multi-chassis ganged systems, this controller accepts control inputs from IPC-1-R, IPC-3-R IPC-16-R or any external contact closure.

Auto Switch/Monitor Card

The AB-232-R Auto Switch and Monitor card provides real-time lead sensing, with alarm generation and conditional auto switching based on user programmed conditions.

The Auto Switch and Monitor card can be used independently, or as a master switch for other switch modules in the RSS system. Auto Switch and Monitor Cards can support RS-232 or RS-530 interfaces.

This switch is configured and managed through the IPC-16 control card.

The Auto Switch and Monitor card continuously monitors and displays the status of the following leads in either RS-232 or RS-530 (balanced) signals: TD, RD, RTS, CTS, DSR, DTR, DCD.

Two of these leads can be used to create Auto Switching algorithms, with time qualifying and boolean logic parameters. Once pre-set conditions are met, automatic failover and auto switchback (if programmed) occur. Network managers are alerted to any change of state through SNMP traps and email notification.

The IPC-16 allows control resolution down to the A/B switch level. Each A/B switch can be individually managed, or gang switched as required.

Both serial and network interfaces provide communication with user friendly menus or web browser interfaces. Each A/B card in the system can be named for easy identification. Cards can be grouped and switched together or independently. For system developers, the RSS series offers direct command control, both via the serial port and via UDP network messaging. This allows direct program control by Network Management Systems, customized user interfaces, or easily integrated into OEM systems and software. RSS-16 Chassis offers Dual Redundant IPC-16 controllers for the most reliable configuration.

Web, SNMP, TCP Messaging, AutoPing For gang applications in either the RSS-3 or RSS-16 chassis, the IPC-1 provides web control, setup and management. Point your browser to the IP address assigned to the switch, enter a security code and click on the button to operate the switch.

Fallback switching for your critical communication circuits is just a click away with these web enabled A/B Switches. Switch one Common circuit to either circuits A or B from anywhere in the world. Just point you browser to the IP address of the switch, enter a username and password and click on either A or B button to reroute traffic. It's that easy. In addition to the web browser control, these switches can also be operated by: Automatically, by pinging a device and switching automatically when the ping fails, from an SNMP Manager Direct TCP messages.

Use external relay closures or discrete inputs to integrate A/B Fallback switching into your network environment. Each switch is independently controlled with its own set of control inputs. For status information, a relay output is provided for positive switch confirmation.

All 16 inputs are terminated on one 50 Pin Telco connector, and another 50 Pin telco provides access to the status relays.

IOC-3 I/O Control Card

Use external relay closures or discrete inputs to integrate A/B Fallback switching into your network environment. This card is ideal for Gang Controlled switching, or independant control of up to three A/B Switch cards. Terminal blocks are used to connect the control and feedback circuits.

Two additional modular jacks are used to link multiple chasses together for unlimited gang size and simultaneous switching of multiple circuits.
